Thorn Creek Audubon Society
Thorn Creek Audubon Society(TCAS) promotes
the enjoyment and appreciation of birds through educational events
for adults and children. Their mission is to preserve, protect and
restore wildlife habitat, and to create awareness of local
conservation issues. TCAS is a National Audubon Society chapter that
holds monthly meetings, conducts fieldtrips, Christmas and Spring
bird counts and holds fundraising events throughout the year.

Chicago Region
Audubon Chicago Region works to save
wildlife and habitat, through creating a local culture of
conservation. Along with a small staff, a cadre of citizen
scientists, land stewards, and advocates collaborate to preserve,
protect and restore 200,000 acres of land in the Chicago
metropolitan area. This land encompasses many of the finest and
largest tracts of native tallgrass prairie, oak savanna, woodland
and wetland left in the Midwest.
Forest Preserve District of
Cook County
The mission of the Forest Preserve District of
Cook County(FPDCC) is to acquire and hold lands with natural forests for
the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna, and scenic
beauties within the district for the purpose of the education, pleasure,
and recreation of the public.
Openlands
Founded in 1963, Openlands protects the
natural and open spaces of northeastern Illinois and the surrounding
region to ensure cleaner air and water, protect natural habitats and
wildlife, and help balance and enrich our lives.
U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has
approximately 34,000 dedicated Civilians and Soldiers delivering
engineering services to customers in more than 90 countries
worldwide. With environmental sustainability as a guiding principle,
the Corps team works to strengthen our Nation’s security by building
and maintaining America’s infrastructure. The Chicago District is
responsible for water resources development in the Chicago
metropolitan area, a unique urban area of about 5,000 square miles
with a population of about 8 million. The Chicago District
boundaries cover Cook, Lake, DuPage, McHenry, Kane, and Will
counties in Illinois and Lake, Porter and a portion of LaPorte
counties in Indiana. The district is involved in a variety of
projects stemming from its primary mission areas of flood control,
shoreline protection, navigation, environmental protection, and
emergency management.
TogetherGreen
Audubon and Toyota launched the five-year
TogetherGreen initiative in spring, 2008 to fund conservation
projects, train environmental leaders, and offer volunteer and
individual action opportunities that significantly benefit the
environment. As of October, volunteer days have begun in 40,
tallying in excess of 11,000 volunteer hours. Funding totaling $1.4
million was recently awarded to innovative conservation projects
nationwide, while www.TogetherGreen.org helps users take individual
conservation action and share and celebrate success stories. The
TogetherGreen initiative and grants programs are funded by a
$20 million Toyota gift to Audubon, the largest in the conservation
group’s long history.

people with birds, nature and the environment that supports us all.
Our national network of community-based nature centers, chapters,
scientific, education, and advocacy programs engages millions of
people from all walks of life in conservation action to protect and
restore the natural world.
