We are a group of dedicated volunteers whose mission is to restore and maintain the prairie ecosystem that once existed at Bartel Grassland. Through our efforts we strive to increase the site’s biodiversity and maintain quality habitat for a rich community of plants, grassland birds and other fauna.

Our goal is to educate the community about this thriving ecosystem and involve them in our restoration and monitoring efforts. We seek to achieve these goals through a collaborative effort among volunteers, community organizations, businesses and our partners.

The parking lot for Bartel Grassland is located at the intersection of Flossmoor Rd and Central Avenue in Matteson, Illinois.
